Choosing Your First Generative AI Use Cases
To get started with generative AI, first focus on areas that can improve human experiences with information.
The partners said their expanded collaboration will help support the 'AI industrial revolution.'
Nvidia and Fujitsu are deepening their ties, with a new project to co-develop AI infrastructure in Japan.
Announced in Tokyo on Friday, the companies said the initiative will help accelerate adoption of AI and robotics across industries.
"The AI industrial revolution has begun, and we must build the infrastructure to power it, in Japan and across the globe," said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who joined Fujitsu CEO Takahito Tokita at a press conference to unveil the initiative.
The collaboration will focus on building "self-evolving" AI agents tailored for particular industries, using Nvidia's market-leading GPUs with Fujitsu's CPUs and orchestration technologies. Targeted sectors include healthcare, manufacturing and robotics.
While specific project or cost details have not been disclosed, the partners have targeted 2030 as the year to establish Japan’s new AI base.
Robotics is also expected to be a major focus of the partnership, with a collaboration alongside Japanese robot maker Yaskawa Electric noted as a possibility.
Fujitsu positioned the announcement amid surging demand for generative AI, where high costs and technical complexity have largely limited adoption to big corporations. The partners said their project aims to lower those barriers and widen access to the technology.
"By combining the cutting-edge technologies of both companies, we will develop and provide full-stack AI infrastructure, starting with sectors such as manufacturing where Japan is a global leader," Tokita said. "To further support the expanding needs of AI infrastructure, Fujitsu and Nvidia will expand this partnership in the areas of high-performance computing and quantum."
"Together, we’re building the infrastructure for the era of AI," Huang added.
The announcement coincides with a booming demand for Nvidia’s GPUs, which are widely used to underpin state-of-the-art AI platforms. Its market capitalization crossed $4.5 trillion this week, making it the first company to achieve this milestone.
