Chinese automaker Chery unveiled its humanoid robot Mornine at its annual Global Innovation Conference, taking place this week in China.
Developed by Chery’s robotics offshoot AiMOGA Robotics, Mornine has been designed as a multilingual, AI-powered car sales assistant.
At the event, Mornine completed a "fully autonomous presentation" reviewing AiMOGA's evolution from concept to real world deployment across more than 30 countries.
The robot also completed a full car-buying reception process, autonomously greeting customers, explaining vehicle features, opening doors and even collaborating with in-car systems.
It also demonstrated a vision-tactile dexterous hand and multi-expression interaction system, capable of delicate object handling and real-time emotional responses.
Chery said the demonstration showcases the next step in its strategy bridging the gap between automotive and robotics.
First revealed last year, Mornine made headlines in July as the first humanoid robot to open a car door autonomously, using only onboard sensors, full-body motion control and reinforcement learning.
Ultimately, Chery said it wants to introduce Mornine to car sales rooms to boost sales and "attract tech-savvy customers."
"These advances mark a breakthrough in multimodal perception and human-like interaction," the company said in a press release, "setting new standards for intelligent service robots."
